My name is Armin Schreiber: I have been in the real estate industry since 1987, a developer since 1990, and an entrepreneur in Mauritius – I have been living here with my family since 2021.

My name is Armin Schreiber – I have been in the real estate industry since 1987 and a developer since 1990. My first own project was implemented in Germany, my last one so far was in Bodrum in Turkey.
Professionally, I have traveled to Italy, England, Ireland, Austria, Switzerland, Slovenia, Monaco, Greece on Rhodes, the Bahamas, and the USA. Throughout my travels, I never sat in an office. I was always interested in how people really live there – not how tourists experience a country, who quickly fly in and move on to the next destination.
Stefan Zweig already described in 1926 that many people no longer travel on their own, but are „travelled by someone else“ – from program to program, without really getting to know a country. That is exactly how I never wanted to travel.
And that’s exactly why I know what matters today when you really want to live somewhere. For me, it was already clear in 2008: Mauritius is supposed to be it.
My wife was initially skeptical. She knew Mauritius only from the internet and had very different images in her head. Then she came here for the first time – and was thrilled: how clean everything is, how modern the infrastructure is, how warm and cultured the people are.
In 2021, barely after the Corona restrictions had been lifted, my wife, our dog and I boarded the first flight to Mauritius. We moved from Turkey – with everything that comes with it.
From the beginning, we quickly expanded: in 2022 I founded my first company in Mauritius, in 2025 Invest & Living Mauritius, and in 2026 Island Living Solutions for reverse osmosis water systems, solar systems and smart homes in villas.
„Ubi bene, ibi patria“ – where I feel good, that is my home. Even the ancient Romans knew this; Cicero expressed this idea over 2,000 years ago.
For me, it sums it up perfectly: Mauritius is not just the place where I live – it is also the place where I feel at home as an entrepreneur and with my family.
Unfortunately, our dog that we came with no longer lives with us. Today, Léno and Berti, two former street dogs from our apartment complex, have found a home with us.
So I don’t know from books what a fresh start in Mauritius means – but from my own experience.
In Germany, people wait nine months for summer – and then it rains. In the Mediterranean, it is often over 40 degrees Celsius in summer, the nights are barely cool, and in winter you freeze to death in houses that were not built for the cold.
In Mauritius, life is pleasant 365 days a year. We don’t need heating on the coast, and we also swim in winter. In addition, we have a stable democracy, modern infrastructure, and people who warmly welcome guests.
